Stages of Sleep in Psychology:

There are 2 stages of sleep:

  1. Non-Rapid Eye Motion (Non-REM).
  2. Fast Eye Motion (REM).

NON-RAPID EYE MOVEMENT:

It’s also referred to as Non-REM. Non-REM additional consists of 3 steps i-e N1, N2, and N3.

N1:

This is known as to be the first-ever stage of Non-REM sleep. In N1, the stage is something like a combination means it’s something in between consciousness and sleep because this is the starting step of sleep.

As it’s in between sleep and consciousness means on this our eyes are closed however our thoughts and mind are still functioning and working.

In N1, you can feel and hear the things happening around but you aren’t ready to reply simply because you are in between sleep and consciousness means you might be half sleepy.

In N1, you also give a flashback to your complete day’s duties.

N2:

This is the second stage of sleep. This stage is termed N2. Now, that is the stage during which an individual has come out from in between sleepy and consciousness stage.

In N2, a person is full sleepy means that a lot sleepy that he/she is hardened or tough to get up because neither their mind is working nor their muscles.

N3:

This is the final stage of Non-REM sleep. N3 is like in a form of delta waves.  In N3, a particular person is totally dead and is extraordinarily hard to get up. Individuals who walk or speak throughout sleep are additionally included in N3.

RAPID EYE MOVEMENT:

In this stage your eye motion becomes fast mean your eye start bling rapidly. REM sleep can be referred to as paradoxical sleep.

By paradoxical, It means active mind, however, paralyzed body. Let me make this term clear to you by giving you an example.
